GoodKnock is built for the fire service — a place to share videos, photos, stories, tactics, humor, training, questions, and the moments only firefighters understand. These guidelines help keep the community useful, respectful, and worth coming back to.
Firefighters come from different departments, backgrounds, ranks, regions, and levels of experience. Debate tactics, question decisions, and share opinions, but do it without personal attacks, harassment, threats, or needless disrespect.
GoodKnock is for firefighter media, firehouse culture, training, tactics, apparatus, tools, incidents, EMS, rescue, and related emergency service content. Posts should have a clear connection to the fire service or the people who live the job.
Do not post content that reveals protected patient information, private personal details, addresses, license plates, identifying victim information, or anything that could violate privacy laws, department policy, or an active investigation.
If you are sharing fireground footage, scanner audio, photos, or incident details, make sure you have the right to share it and that doing so will not compromise victims, families, responders, or your department.
Do not post protected health information or content that identifies patients, medical conditions, treatment details, or EMS calls in a way that could violate HIPAA or other privacy rules. When in doubt, leave it out.
Avoid sharing internal documents, preplans, security-sensitive information, personnel issues, disciplinary matters, investigation details, or anything your department would reasonably consider confidential.
GoodKnock is a place for size-ups, scenario discussion, and operational debate. Strong opinions are fine. Cheap shots are not. Explain your thinking, share your experience, and remember that different departments operate with different staffing, resources, policies, and risks.
Do not attack, threaten, bully, or harass other users. Content that promotes hate, discrimination, or demeaning treatment based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, age, or other protected characteristics is not allowed.
Fire and EMS work can involve serious injuries, death, and traumatic scenes. Do not post graphic, exploitative, or disturbing content just to get attention. Content shared for training, safety, or legitimate discussion should be handled with care and appropriate context.
Only post videos, images, articles, audio, or other content that you created, own, have permission to share, or are legally allowed to use. Give credit when appropriate and do not remove watermarks or misrepresent someone else’s work as your own.
Do not use GoodKnock only to advertise, drop links, sell products, recruit followers, or promote unrelated services. Relevant fire-service businesses, creators, photographers, trainers, and organizations may participate, but they should add value to the community rather than flood it with promotion.
Firehouse humor is part of the culture, but it should not become harassment, cruelty, discrimination, or mockery of victims, patients, families, or fellow responders. Know the difference between funny and reckless.
Do not post content that encourages illegal activity, unsafe conduct, violence, threats, impersonation, doxxing, unauthorized access, or interference with emergency operations.
GoodKnock may remove content, limit visibility, suspend accounts, or take other action when posts or behavior violate these guidelines, the Terms of Use, or the spirit of the community.
Moderation decisions are made to protect the site, its users, and the broader fire-service community.
Post the knock. Share the lesson. Start the debate. Make people laugh. Just do it in a way that respects the job, protects privacy, and keeps GoodKnock worth being part of.
